Ignite Teaching Parent Roles
Each year, parents must sign a commitment to the teaching parent role as it pertains to the development stage of each of their enrolled students.

KINDERGARTEN - GRADE 4
Private Tutor: At the elementary level, parents must be highly involved; teaching subjects not covered at Ignite, assisting their children with Ignite homework, communicating with teachers, and setting up a structure for student success.

GRADES 5 & 6
Private Tutor Transitioning to Guide: At the Intermediate level, parents should still be very involved; teaching subjects not covered at Ignite, assisting their children with Ignite homework as requested, and setting up a structure for student success. Parents need to empower students to take on more responsibility and work more independently. Parents should encourage their children to communicate directly with their teachers through the online class management system, and to be accountable for their homework, materials, and grades, while also providing the oversight and support necessary for them to be successful.

GRADES 7 & 8
Guide: At the middle school level, parents need to ensure students are learning subjects not taught at Ignite. Parents must remain aware of student work requirements and teacher communications, as well as setting up a structure for student success at home. Parents should assist students at the middle school level as requested. Parents should encourage their children to communicate directly with their teachers through the online class management system and to be accountable for their homework, materials, and grades, while also providing the oversight and support necessary for them to be successful.

HIGH SCHOOL
Course Monitor: Ignite Teaching Parents are responsible for the oversight and or instruction of any courses not taught by Ignite. Ignite is a partnership, and we count on parents to remain involved in their student's Ignite education. At home, high school students should be able to function within the context of a check in or short daily conference with their parents. Assist students as requested and encourage a continued structure for success. High school students should communicate with their teachers through Ignite's school management system, Jupiter Ed. High school students should be held accountable for their work.
